Rehabilitation Assistants

Gloucestershire Health and Care (GHC) are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individuals across the county who want to work with people in their communities. We can offer you training, development opportunities, regular supervision and support.

The Reablement and Home First Team provide vital short-term services to people in their homes to help them regain as much independence as possible after a stay in hospital, an injury or illness.

No previous experience in a paid/unpaid caring role is required. To be successful in this role you should:
enjoy working with people;
understand what motivates people;
be comfortable being involved in practical, sometimes personal and intimate care provision for people;
have a desire to learn and develop skills;
able to work alone and in a team setting.

If you do have experience of working in a caring role, it will prove very useful and will allow you to progress more rapidly.

Our services run 24/7 and all our Rehabilitation Assistant roles offer core hours of 07.00-22.00. Roles operate on a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule. We are seeking an evening shift from 5pm-10pm.

Please note that this role is locality based visiting patients in their homes and therefore it is highly desirable that all applicants have a valid driving licence for the UK and access to a vehicle. If you do not have access to a vehicle or driving licence please specify in your supporting information how you would fulfil the duties of this locality-based role.

The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.

We have in excess of 5000 staff working over 50 sites, providing a diverse range of services. We strive to support an organisational culture that is welcoming, builds and celebrates inclusivity and diversity and provides a sense of belonging and trust.

The annual NHS Staff Survey gives our people the opportunity to tell us about their experience working at the Trust. For the 2023 survey just over 2800 colleagues gave us their views (58.5%). It was great to see from the results that colleagues are saying that:
89.7% believe they are making a positive difference to patients/service users;
73.3% would recommend the organisation as a place to work;
82.4% agree that care of patients and service users is the organisations priority;
76.7% would be happy with the standard of care for a friend or relative

Our results put us as 5th nationally as a Community, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities NHS Employer of Choice and 1st equal amongst all NHS Provider Trusts in the South West. However, we know we have more to do and will continue to drive forward our commitment to making GHC a Great Place to Work.

Please note that this role does not meet the criteria for sponsorship and therefore we are only able to consider applicants with unrestricted right to work in the UK due to the role not currently meeting the UK Government’s Visa's & Immigration's requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa.
