**ROLE PURPOSE / SUMMARY**
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to join our team as an Associate Biology Lecturer. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering a comprehensive molecular biology course that offers hands-on experiences with various techniques and methodologies.
You will also have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge and experience to contribute to or lead research and commercial projects in areas including but not limited to cell therapies, clinical diagnostics & clinical trials.

**Teaching**
- Provide teaching as required using a variety of pedagogical techniques such as small group teaching, practical work, student
- centered learning, building on prior learning, skills and experience, individual activity, assessment for learning and questioning
- Ensure students are provided with the appropriate equipment to undertake training and complete any required assessments
- Supervise PhD students

**Assessment**
- Complete assessments of students in line with company policies and the relevant qualification body guidelines
- Create and update written course materials and assessments, so they are fit for purpose and where necessary, conform to the regulations of awarding bodies
- Contribute to formative and summative feedback and tasks related to student’s work

**Curriculum development and Quality assurance**
- Work with colleagues to ensure content of training courses are up-to-date and relevant.
- Engage with feedback on teaching to enhance quality and learner experience
- Adopt reflective pedagogical practices and share learnt experiences with the team to improve delivery and assessment
- Attend standardization and moderation meetings as and when required
- Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the quality of course materials including assessments
- Ensure that course equipment has been tested and any problems addressed so that courses are fit for purpose

**Administration and pastoral duties**
- Provide pastoral support and references to students during and after course
- Contribute to student admissions processes including interviews and selection panel
- Update website information and back-end content, course dates etc as well as maintaining required spreadsheets to assist the team in the smooth running of training programs
- Answer student/client questions and in relation to specific enquiries including corporate booking and bespoke packages.

**Scientific R&D**
- Participate in and contribute to scientific team meetings
- Contribute or lead project planning activities including workflow development, resource planning
- Research funding opportunities and participate in or lead on grant/tender writing
- Review literature, develop and present research ideas to the team ensuring that they are innovative and answer current needs on national or international scale
- Work with the team to implement and deliver laboratory-based project
- Contribute to commercial projects as needed

**Health & Safety**
- Create and review all related risk assessments and make amendments in line with the relevant guidance
- Have overall responsibility for laboratory health and safety within the department
- Ensure technicians, students and lecturing staff understand and follow laboratory health and safety
- Ensure all team members complete the relevant health and safety assessments

**COMPETENCY CRITERIA**

**Essential**
- Qualifications, Training & Knowledge
- PhD in a relevant biological science
- Understanding and ability to undertake research
- 2+ years of experience in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cell biology or Microbiology [DP1]
- Experience in scientific project development & planning
**Desirable**
- PGCE or equivalent
- Experienced in lecturing/teaching
- Experience in a regulated laboratory environment.
- R&D experience
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to use them to convey complex information to students and colleagues
- Shows confidence in communication with external stakeholders and funding bodies
- Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to coordinate a team, ensuring appropriate cover is provided
- Strong ability to take initiative and work without supervisor
