We have a position for a Support Worker to work on a one-to-one basis with a young woman who has cerebral palsy in East Boldon, South Tyneside. You will be working as part of a small team within the client’s family home, providing support within the community and assisting to appointments using the clients adapted vehicle. Therefore, a full clean driving licence is required.

**About the role
**The role of Support Worker will involve assisting with personal care, social, domestic, and recreational activities and a key feature will be to work towards increasing the client’s independence and quality of life. Overnight care will be required for the client at home whilst family go on holidays, approx. 4 weeks per year.

**About your responsibilities
**In the role of Support Worker, you will:

- Assist the client with personal care and activities of daily living
- Effectively implement training provided by therapists
- Assist in increasing the client’s independence and quality of life
- Take a lead role in helping the client generate social and recreational activities
- Assist with domestic duties and responsibilities directly associated with the client’s needs and requirements
- Implement training provided by the Case Manager
- Keep records as directed by the Case Manager
- Escort the client to agreed venues using the client’s own vehicle or via public transport
- Be supervised and directed by the case manager and the employer

**About you
**For the role of Support Worker, you be required to complete a DBS check and complete mandatory training in line with CQC. You must have the following abilities:

- Excellent social and communication skills
- Can work within a team or on a 1:1 basis
- Use your own initiative
- Diplomatically work with the client’s family to ensure achievement of principal outcomes.
- Utilise training
- Work in a planned and systematic fashion
- Can solve problems
- Information Technology skills
- Full clean driving licence
- Demonstrate appropriate behaviours for the role.
- Show enthusiasm for client’s interests
- Recognise mistakes and improve on past behaviours
- Good sense of humour
- Reliable and punctual
- Reliability and flexibility
- Friendly and talkative

**About the hours and rewards
**The rate of pay for this support worker role is £11.50 per hour.

The working hours are 16 per week with the requirement for flexibility around client’s social activities and family holidays. Working hours are to be shared between a small team of staff and the shift patterns are:
7.30am - 8.30am Monday, Wednesday, Friday
4.30pm - 6.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday
11.00am - 5.00pm Tuesday, Thursday
12.00pm - 5.00pm Saturday, Sunday
