An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, dynamic, and passionate Midwife to join our maternity team as the Ward Leader for the Maternity Ward, within the Women’s and Children’s services at Sherwood Forest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This role will involve the management of the Continuity Team working on the Maternity Ward and the day to day running of a busy ward.

The Maternity Ward consists of 32 beds, caring for postnatal and antenatal women, women who’s labour begins with induction. This will also include 6 beds allocated for transitional care.

We are looking for a Midwife with a broad range of experience within maternity services, who is innovative, proactive and compassionate. The post holder will be passionate about empowering and supporting midwives and facilitating choice for women and birthing people.

To support co-ordinate and lead the ward/ department team in delivering a high standard of evidence based care for pregnant women and their families. To provide clinical and professional leadership to midwifery, nursing and support workers maximising job satisfaction for the team. The individual will provide a specialist and advanced contribution to the provision of maternity services. To work within the multi professional team to ensure women receive seamless maternity care.

We are seeking a qualified Midwife with excellent interpersonal skills, good communication, be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of families and staff.
- To support midwives to identify their own personal actions for quality improvement
- To work in partnership with Clinical Governance teams, Ward Leaders and Specialist Midwives.
- To actively engage with the Nottinghamshire Maternity Voices Partnership, working closely with service users to understand their experiences and to be a key leader in co-producing services with women.
- To assist and offer support to women who are requesting care outside of guidance, supporting personalisation and choice and ensuring all women, especially vulnerable women or women with complex needs, are empowered and informed of the evidence base.
- You will be expected to support and implement changes to clinical practice as required. You will encourage professional development within the team and perform audits.
- Work clinically as a midwife in times of escalation
