CoCoCare is a service for adults with additional needs. We are open Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 4 pm.

We are looking for bank staff to cover sickness and holiday. No experience is required. This is a zero hour contract, with the potential of a full/part time role in the future.

As a bank support worker, you will be working with customers throughout the day and supporting them to participate in organised workshops and activities. These are based around 5 key areas; sport and leisure, creative arts, personal and social development, performing arts and employability.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Get to know the person, what’s important to them and how they want to be supported.
- Advocate for and support those around you to have a voice and be heard.
- Communicate and give information in ways that the person can understand, allowing them to make their own choices and decisions.
- Support the person with their own personal care and health care in a way that is sensitive, respectful and has been agreed with that person.
- Give the person the help they need to learn from and enjoy vocational workshops and volunteering activities.
- Encourage and support the person to try out new things and take planned risks in their life.
- Encourage and support the person to be a part of the community.
- Work well as part of the person’s support team.
- Make sure the support you give is done in a way that ensures the person gets what they need.
- Ensure the person’s safety and that of others.
- Keep up-to-date, accurate records and paperwork that affect the person’s support.
- Work well with the person’s friends, family or other people who are important in their life.
- Treat the person with respect and dignity.
- Work closely with customers with PMLD

**Your responsibilities to your team and to CoCoCare**:

- Being flexible in your work.
- Follow CoCoCare’s ways of working, rules and procedures.
- Keep records and paperwork up to date and accurate.
- To go to team meetings and supervisions.
- To attend relevant training as required.

**Essential Skills**:

- Be able to read and write in plain English and work with numbers.
- Be willing to take part in training and learn more about the job.
- Be able to work with someone who needs extra support.
- To be able to work both alone or as part of a larger team

**Essential qualities**:

- Is committed to the rights of people with a learning disability
- Is able to use own initiative
- Take an interest in the people you support
- Is confident to work alone
- Takes pride in what they do
- Has a positive outlook
- Is punctual and reliable
- Has good communication skills

**Desirable qualities**:

- Have a manual driving license and be willing to drive CoCoCare Vehicles
- Experience of working with people with a learning disability who need extra support
- Experience of working with people with PMLD
- Health and Social Care NVQ Level 3
- Able to or prepared to learn how to use a computer for writing documents
- Food Hygiene certificate
- First Aid Certificate

**Job Type**: Zero hours contract

**Salary**: From £9.70 per hour
