Earth Observation Consultant

The Satellite Applications Catapult (Catapult) is at the forefront of a burgeoning UK Space Industry. Our geospatial intelligence team is a multidisciplinary group of technology professionals with blended technical, commercial, and strategic skills focused towards:

- The development of new value propositions for geospatial data and technologies.
- Overcoming blockers to the adoption and use of geospatial data and technologies.
- Technical services management and delivery.

Working alongside Earth Observation Consultants, Geospatial Consultants, and Solutions Architects, this role will work in cutting-edge development projects and activities at the forefront of satellite technologies in response to market needs.

The Role
- Have good knowledge of Earth observation science.
- Have experience in the definition and development of innovative geospatial solutions utilising the most appropriate geospatial technologies and data sets to meet customer / market needs.
- Be an excellent communicator.

To ensure success in the role, you will:

- Demonstrate technical expertise both within the business and to external stakeholders support the collaborative development of new geospatial solution concepts.
- Use your knowledge to support consultancy activities for external businesses.
- Support the successful delivery of project activities.

About You
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with associated technical expertise.
- Knowledge of working with optical and SAR data.
- Experience of contemporary geospatial data formats and management principles.
- Experience of coding workflows for the processing or analysis of EO data in languages such as R, C++, Java, Python or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen to and interpret requirements with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player.
