The post-holder will be expected to line manage the Subject Access team and will require excellent communication and relationship building skills to attain buy-in to new approaches and development initiatives with colleagues who may not be directly managed by them. The post holder will develop and maintain constructive working relationships with several key internal and external stakeholders.

**Key responsibilities include**:
**supervising and supporting the clerical staff including**:
processing requests as required;
monitoring sickness and absence; and

conducting annual appraisals;
maintaining and improving standards of work relating to Subject Access Requests;
training staff within the team;
implement agreed operational processes within the department;
monitor the progress of requests and compliance with legal response times for Data Subject Access Request (DSARs);
to pro-actively quality assure the services being provided by the team (e.g. availability and timeliness of information, presentation of notes, timeliness of answering patient telephone calls etc.). Bring matters of concern to the attention of the Subject Access Manager so that action plans can be agreed and implemented;
Full details of the main duties are provided in the job description but main duties include:
Working with the Subject Access Manager to co-ordinate DSAR activities.

To keep up to date with regards to highly complex legislation and national guidance relating to Data Protection and Confidentiality.

Day to day supervision of the Subject Access team.

To support the Subject Access Manager in maintaining a robust staff roster system to ensure adequate staff coverage of the team at all times including annual leave and sickness absence.

To provide advice and support on a day to day basis to the Subject Access staff.

Plan, organise and delegate tasks as appropriate to meet the changing demands of the department.

Support the Subject Access Manager in performing induction for new recruits to the administration team, including specific terminology training and actively encourage training as required.

Prioritise own and DSAR team’s workload including during regular periods of interruption, adjusting timescales to suit changing plans.

Develop a working knowledge of other appropriate key IT systems necessary for the role.

Responsible for gathering information as part of DSAR investigations and presenting that information together with recommendations to senior management.
