Disciplines considered: Diesel Engine Fitter, Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer, Mechanic, Avionic Technician, Aircraft Engineer, Marine Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, and Breakdown Engineer
Position Summary:
Maintenance Services: Responsible for the presentation of Units in meeting the required entry times and entry points in accordance with the Train Plan Parameters, Train Plan, and the Preparation, Presentation & Hand-back procedure.
Responsible for delivering the maintenance of each Unit, Vehicle and Equipment in accordance with the Maintenance Plan, Manuals, maintenance procedures and general requirements of the Maintenance Services.
Ensure all repairs are undertaken in accordance with the relevant Manuals and the Maintenance Plan.
Ensure all fault finding has been undertaken with a high degree of due diligence to mitigate any repeat occurrence of the fault.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the safety of individuals on the team and that of those impacted by any work-related activity.
Control of contractor’s procedure.
Understand and work in accordance with the company’s safety and quality requirements, and procedures within the Depot Safety Management System and Depot Operations Plan.
Perform effective diagnosis of train faults and timely repair of components to maximise train availability.
Record and document all work carried out within Bombardier Maintenance Management System.
Analyse faults to identify root cause and development of countermeasures, improvement actions and containments.
Control and source tooling, equipment and spares
Document breakdowns, identifying root cause and remedial action to help identify and resolve recurring issues
Understand and maintain high standards of tidiness and organisation in line with good 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practice
Understand and work in accordance with mandatory requirements of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
Attend the daily planning and HSE meetings.
Ensure the stores material process is followed daily.
Plan the daily work scope.
Request isolation/re-energisation of the OLE and 3rd rail.
Arrange train movements daily.
Control external contractor workload once at Depot.
Update shift roster/ control holiday requests.
Management of designated team member’s daily timesheets.
Liaise with the Depot Shift Production Manager daily.
Liaise with Modification Co-Ordinator regarding multiple Depot Manpower requirements.
Creating, monitoring and maintaining key reports
Meeting customer expectations
Feedback to the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements
Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained
Control and organise the team’s daily work schedule to achieve train availability and reliability targets
Delegate tasks to the team to ensure maximum effectiveness
Oversee the team’s performance, attendance and disciplinary issues
Identify areas of development within the team to achieve a flexible and responsive team.
Train / mentor team members where appropriate
Motivate and coach the team to deliver Bombardiers contractual targets
Monitor the completion of tasks, reporting consistency and ensure they are correctly recorded on in the Maintenance Management System or information form system (iForm)
Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them
Required Skills and Experience:
Relevant engineering qualifications
Demonstrable experience within a Team Leader or Management position within an engineering environment
Knowledge of Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement
Experience of Health and Safety environments
Experience of holding a budget and working in a pressured production environment
Experience of Rolling stock is preferred however not essential.
