An IT Services department in the centre of Bristol are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled professional to join the Team in maintaining and developing their virtualisation estate as they move towards the next generation of platforms

This role will form part of the wider Systems and Operations group that designs, sets standards, continually develops, maintains, and supports the critical IT infrastructure to provide a world-class platform.

Senior Systems Administrator - Virtualisation Specialist

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in delivering a new platform into operation, maintain legacy systems, support project teams, and become a technical specialist in the virtualisation vision of the future.
- Assist with Cyber Security operations, patching, and upgrading hardware, software and firmware when required, and taking a pragmatic and specialist role in ensuring the safety and security of systems.
- Delivering technical and service excellence, communicate and collaborate with the community across IT Services and beyond, to promote knowledge sharing, mentoring, problem solving, and a collegiate culture of working.
- Produce clear technical documentation to assist colleagues now and in the future.

Virtualisation Specialist Skills Required:

- Have considerable experience with **VMware**and have obtained qualifications to support the virtualisation platform and related technologies (ideally with exposure to **VMware Cloud Foundation technologies**).
- Have a good understanding of **ITIL concepts** and experience, particularly Change Management.
- Are well-versed in modern system administration approaches, such as **automation, configuration management, version control, monitoring and alerting.**:

- Willing to shape the virtualisation portfolio, identify gaps, and help develop strategies and use experience to address them.
- Experience of **PowerShell scripting** and using the command line.
- Can engage with external suppliers and vendors.

**The role offers hybrid working where you will be required to attend the office 1 day per week.
