Our client based in South Tyneside is looking for an experienced Stores Operative to join their team This is an exciting opportunity leading into a permanent position for the right person.

**Job description**:

- To organise the materials needed for site including logistics in a timely manner for the business.
- Unload and load vehicles, checking goods in against POs, record stock in and out of stores.
- Organise the storage of materials, rotate stock (LIFO) to minimise waste and implement 5S to the stores area.
- Co-ordinate with Contract Managers on current projects, working closely with project teams to deliver materials or off hire equipment in a timely manner.
- Maintain close relations with the Site Managers regarding cost control, waste management and variations to orders.
- Stock rotation, maintain live stock records and undertake monthly stock checks.
- Housekeeping to the stores and yard area.
- Track / expedite purchase orders as required, and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain / update register of company assets/equipment.
- Ensuring safety checks are done on vehicles, ladders, tools, access equipment, scaffold/handrail, nets, equipment and harnesses when checking in and out of stores.
- Assisting the Contracts team with safety records.
- PAT testing
- To assist in developing, maintaining and promoting good working practices.
- Control and monitor site waste in accordance with the Company’s Site Waste Minimisation & Management Policy.
- Monitor stock levels and re-order as required.
- Ensure the safe storage of materials and equipment.
- Maintain register of company equipment/list of assets.
- Assist with the organisation of vehicle maintenance.
- Complete and record safety checks on equipment being issued in and out of stores.
- Keep paths and walkways clear.
- Vehicle checks (forklift, truck and cherry picker)
- Assist in promoting and maintaining their own and other's health, safety and security as defined in the Health and Safety Policy.
- 5s and lean management training.
- Able to take on H&S duties.
- Previous stores experience.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willing to participate in any training programme implemented by the organisation as part of this employment.
- Hold full UK driving license.

**Hours of work**:
Monday to Friday 7.00am to 4.00pm
