Mobile Caretaker

**We are looking for 2x mobile part time Caretakers to look after our Schools near Truro. It will be 20 hours a week. splitting your time between two schools.**

**Contract Type: Permanent**

**Hours: 20 hours per week**
**Salary: 10.50 per hour**

**Responsibilities**:

- To act as key holder for the site, ensuring security at all times including the operation of alarms.
- To report any major defects in building equipment and security systems observed in the course of duties and to liaise with the Helpdesk, approved contractors.
- To participate in evacuation processes as agreed and in accordance with the schools evacuation procedures.
- To assist in the collection and disposal of all refuse and ensure the school buildings and grounds are free of litter. To ensure in winter especially that access roads pavements steps and playgrounds are safe for use at all times.
- To undertake emergency cleaning (sickness, soiling of toilets, floods etc).
- Records - maintain and report accurate records of completed work to support the Helpdesk operation.
- Initiative - act in a responsible and professional manner in the absence of management.
- To undertake the efficient monitoring of the heating systems, ensuring all systems are working.
- To record and monitor all utilities and report readings to Mitie management.
- To take deliveries of stores and materials and to undertake porterage duties as and when required (including moving furniture, equipment).
- To undertake repairs and minor refurbishment of premises, fixtures and fittings as necessary and within the timescales given by the Helpdesk staff.
- To be aware of and operate the Mitie safety management system and all other relevant legislation and codes of practice and conduct.
- To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties for Mitie.
- To be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate.
- To be available out of normal work hours on an ad hoc basis to attend to defects of an urgent nature making the situation safe and reporting to the Helpdesk and Mitie management.
