The post holder will provide support and proactively encourage trainees to acquire essential clinical skills that enables them to complete the required competencies for the trainee’s role.

The post holder will work closely with clinical areas to ensure that staff are competent, safe, compassionate, caring and put patient safety at the heart of what we do.

The post holder will be an excellent communicator, establish positive working relationships quickly at all levels of the organisation and manage a busy workload, responding to conflicting priorities as required. In addition they will be able to problem solve and escalate concerns as required, acting as positive and well-represented role model at all times.

The post holder is required to work between all NUH sites and must be able to travel to education providers and to support corporate events such as recruitment.

You will work as part of the Ambulatory clinical education team, who provides support for students and placement areas and deliver educational programmes for health care assistants, health care assistant apprentices and trainee nursing associates.

You will work as part of the Ambulatory Care Clinical Education Team to develop our non-registered workforce and alongside multi-professional colleagues across the Trust. You will need to be a highly motivated, skilled clinical practitioner, a professional role model and communicator, with evidence of a experience of supporting learners in the clinical setting and committed to delivering excellence in staff experience to all our learners, nurses and nursing associates.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Integrate new starters into the trust.

Support the ongoing progression and development of health care assistants.

Provide in house training for the workforce.

To keep up to date with clinical practices and developments

To support care certificate introduction, sign off and support to improve compliance.

Support and facilitate with the HCA Academy.

Aid the recruitment and retention of all staff within the wider workforce portfolio.

To work in collaboration with other members of the wider workforce team.

Person specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- Maths and English GCSE grade A-C /4-9 or equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills level 2)
- NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Level 3 Apprenticeship
- Care Certificate
- Completed NUH role development packages: ECG, venepuncture and cannulation
- Basic ICT skills and ability to use Trust ICT programmes
- Demonstrate commitment to maintaining up-to-date mandatory training

Desirable criteria
- Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Experience

Essential criteria
- Clinical working within an acute hospital environment
- Evidence of supporting colleagues / new starters
- Experience in teaching/training colleagues

Desirable criteria
- Teaching and/or training experience

Other requirements specific to the role (e.g. be able to drive or work shifts
