Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a substantive Consultant ENT Surgeon (full time 10 PA) to undertake general ENT work in head and neck surgery. The Trust hosts the centralised and regional head and neck surgical oncology service for Cheshire and Merseyside. Clinical sessions are delivered at across the various sites of the Trust

This is a key post to support the present ENT service and both Liverpool University Hospital and Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust. Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust is approximately 10 miles from Aintree Hospitals

The person appointed will have a base at the Liverpool university Hospital and will be a member of the ENT Directorate. Duties will be undertaken in conjunction with Consultant colleagues.

Applicants are required to hold fellowship/membership of a Royal College of Surgeons (UK) or equivalent qualifications, to be fully registered with the General Medical Council and listed on the Specialist Register or due to be registered within three months of the date of appointment.

The appointee will participate in the on-call rota for daytime emergencies and for out-of-hours cover (including weekends and bank holidays). The daytime on-call rota is currently 1:17 consultant-of-the-week (COTW), based at Aintree University Hospital.

Elective work for the individual consultant during the COTW is suspended.

The appointee is expected to undertake general ENT work and complement the skill mix of the existing head and neck team.

The appointee will participate in the on-call rota for daytime emergencies and for out-ofhours cover (including weekends and bank holidays). The daytime on-call rota is currently 1:17 consultant-of-the-week (COTW), based at Aintree University Hospital.

The post holder will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his or her charge for the proper function of the service and will undertake administrative duties associated with the care of the patient and the running of the Clinical Department.

Out-of-hours on-call has 0.5 DCC PAs and a 3% on call supplement.

Senior medical students will be attached to the F1 trainees who are attached to the ENT ward.
