This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain experience working in a dynamic therapy team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who would like to join our friendly and supportive Orthopaedic out-patient therapy team at Wrightington Hospital.

We are recruiting to a 37.5 hour post working Monday to Friday on a 12 month fixed term contract.

The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which may include those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.

An Enhanced DBS with Adults' Barred List check will be obtained during pre-employment checks
- Work collaboratively with the Outpatient Therapy team to provide excellent clinical care to patients with upper and lower limb problems. These patients may have acute or chronic conditions of both upper and lower limb, some will be post - surgery.
- Work under the supervision of qualified therapists to assess patients and provide effective treatments. This may include exercise programs, use of gym equipment, hydrotherapy, use of specialist treadmill (Alter G), hand therapy and thermoplastic splinting.
- Support the running of Rehabilitation classes in the Gym, alongside the physiotherapist.
- Demonstrate computer literacy skills.
- Carry out some non-clinical tasks (stock ordering and departmental duties)
- Have good interpersonal skills and experience of team working
- Have previous experience of working in a Therapy or Healthcare Rehabilitation environment.

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
- To work under the supervision of therapists’ to effectively contribute to the overall clinical experience for the patient. To support with assessments and follow treatment plans as prescribed by Therapy staff
- To work in a hydrotherapy setting, ensure smooth running of pool sessions whilst assisting qualified therapists with patients in and out of the pool, when required. Completing pool safety checks.
- To be responsible for preparation of materials and equipment to carry out treatment sessions. For example; setting up hydrotherapy, gym classes and assisting hand therapy with post operative care, casts or splints.
- To instruct patients in the safe and correct use of rehabilitation and exercise equipment to help them achieve their goals.
- To manage a routine caseload independently
- To keep accurate written records and statistics as required by the Therapy service and Trust.
- To take responsibility for the upkeep and management of Therapy treatment areas
- To contribute to the day-to-day organisation of activities within the team which ensure smooth running of the service
- To attend regular meetings eg: staff meetings, support and development groups.
- To be responsible for monitoring Stock and ordering supplies.
- To maintain portfolio of competencies showing ability to take responsibility for own learning.
- To participate in and contribute to the training and education of students and other staff.
