As an experienced Registered Nurse you will be required to provide strong clinical leadership within a multi-professional team as part of the Hospital Out Of Hours Team. This role is to maintain to provision of care ‘out of hours’ and supports the European working time directive in reducing Junior Doctors hours.

You will be required to provide advice and support, guidance and education to nursing and Junior medical staff.

You must act as a role model and expert practitioner.
- Respond as part of the Hospital Out Of Hours team to critical issues, working in partnership with the multi-professional team ensuring prompt support and effective clinical assessment/treatment.
- Continuously deliver quality patient care, ensuring clinical management plans are in place and reviewed.
- Committed to ensuring team handover is well lead, structured and done at agreed times out of hours and appropriate documentation kept.
- Develop advanced skills and knowledge in assessment of any patient that Ward staff are concerned about (including history taking and clinical examination, initiation of diagnostic investigations and interpretation of investigating results).
- Maintain and expand professional practice in line with principles contained in the nursing professional codes.
- Undertake cannulations, venepuncture, catheterisation and 12 lead ECG recordings where staff do not currently have this expertise, whilst supporting the acquisition of these skills.
- Upon successful completion of the non-medical prescribing qualification, will prescribe medicines independently within sphere of competence. May also undertake supplementary prescribing (with a designated case load).
- Work closely with the Duty Nurse Manager and support the clinical support workers with any training needs and any problems brought to your attention that may require intervention.
- Provide a focal point for junior doctors by filtering their bleeps and prioritising the workload with the aid of Nerve Centre
