**Job summary**:
Admiralty Pilots are part of the KHM organization and are employed to enable KHM to discharge his statutory duties to ensure the safe movement of vessels within the Dockyard Port of Plymouth.

**Job description**:
Admiralty Pilots are accountable to the KHM through the Chief Admiralty Pilot (CAP) for the conduct of their duties.

The Primary role of an Admiralty Pilot is to provide pilotage support to commanding officers of designated ships within the Dockyard Port of Plymouth in accordance with approved procedures, Statutory Instruments and National Occupational Standards for Marine Pilots. This service will range from
- providing Pilotage advice to Commanding officers and bridge teams of Her Majesty’s Ships to taking full conduct of auxiliary and commercial vessels.
- Assume full responsibility for the safe navigation of any of Her Majesty’s Ships being moved without power utilising tugs and assets.
- Advise Commanding Officers and Masters of vessels requiring pilotage information relevant to the Dockyard Port of Plymouth.

Additional information

As an Admiralty Pilot (Trainee) you will be required to follow and successfully complete the Admiralty Pilot Training Scheme. This will require you to observe and conduct acts of pilotage with a qualified Admiralty Pilot. You will also undertake tug familiarisation training. During the training period you will be required to record training and experiences. You will also be expected to successfully complete two examinations before gaining your ‘Limited Ships’ Pilot licence and a further practical examination before achieving your ‘All Ships’ Pilot licence.

On successful completion of the training scheme, you will be expected to work within a roster system to provide pilotage support 24/7 365 days a year to a maximum of 2400 hours per annum.

Maintain a high standard of competence in all aspects of their duties Admiralty Pilots are required to undertake continuous professional development and MOD mandatory training.

Carry out additional tasks under the instruction of CAP such as port familiarization runs for Commanding officers and bridge teams, attend meetings and other general pilotage related tasks.

You will also be required to qualify as a compass adjuster and undertake compass adjustments for MOD vessels.

You will be required to undertake short term detached duties for training courses

The successful applicant will be required to wear uniform.

- UK Driving Licence**Qualifications**:

- STCW 95 11/2 Master CoC or RN STCW ll/2 CoC
- Plus: Valid Seafarers Medical Certificate (ENG1) which must be obtained prior to completion of
- onboarding.
- Evidence of qualification will be required at interview- Equivalent Qualifications will not be accepted.**Languages**:
