Job description residential childcare support worker
Purpose of the post--

Duties and responsibilities--
- To maintain a high level of care and support that meets the physical, emotional, social, and cultural needs of children cared for by Stepforward Care.
To work in line with statutory legislation and guidance.
To provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children so they feel safe and secure from harm.
To develop positive relationship practice and reward as a positive support tool.
To be a positive role model and offer advice and guidance to children in the home.
To ensure plans and core paperwork are up to date and precise.
To complete daily recordings in line with the individual Care plans.
To complete health and safety checks in the home daily.
To ensure the safeguarding of children is a priority in all aspects of work.
To work as a part of a team.
To provide support for children to access and complete education.
To ensure participation and children's rights are a priority in the home.
To ensure robust and clear communication with team members and external professionals.
To be fully aware of policies and procedures relating to the home.
To maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and be open and honest.
Essential for the role--
- Experience working with children or vulnerable young adults.
Flexibility in working hours. The rota includes weekend work.
Sleep ins in line with the rota. Full UK driving license.
An enhanced DBS check will be carried out.
Desirable skills--
- Level 3 diploma in residential childcare.
Higher level knowledge of residential childcare.
Experience of working in a multi-bed setting
Caring, nurturing approach and the ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviours, considering adolescent childhood experiences and reasons behind the behaviour.
