RMS a recruiting a **Quality Metrology Technician **on behalf of a leading Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturer, based in Peterlee.

Reporting to the Metrology Controller, responsibilities include undertaking measurement activity using a CMM machine as well as other manual measurement tools. You will work with Engineering, Quality and Production teams, managing a workload and contributing to improvement activities.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supporting the QA department with customer samples, product audits and supplier inspection measurement requirements
- Control the operation of dedicated precision measurement equipment to support production confirmation checks.
- Responsible for conducting hardness test measurements to support Auto 3 IHM and HFQ production lines.
- Management and calibration of >200 items of inspection, measurement and test equipment per month to traceable standards.
- Manage and maintain Metrology documentation, systems, reports including IMS and other quality systems programmes.
- Provide measurement support for all product types - Hub / MCB / Transmission / IHM.
- Maintain Product Audit to schedule including documentation and reports.
- Support Customer PPAP / Requalification measurements and data collection.
- Support all Jira measurement requests and prototype sample preparation.
- Management and measurement of supplier parts to the Acceptance inspection approval system, including supplier PPAP process.
- Management of all items of precision measuring equipment located around the plant.
- Responsible for the development and management of over 200 measuring programmes for use by QA and Production.
- Responsible for monthly schedule adherence for Metrology, Calibration, Product Audit, Supplier and Customer Requalification. To ensure adherence to IATF 16949 and Customer Specific Requirements.
- Using AutoCAD, design and order masters and gauging for use by production depts, ensuring they are captured within the Metrology calibration system in order to improve measurement repeatability and master reliability.
- Support the QE dept with measurement of Customer PPAP and Prototype samples as identified on Jira requests.
- Implement & maintain housekeeping and 5s standards in all Metrology responsible areas as specified by the Metrology Controller
- Experienced in use of Precision measuring equipment use including programming knowledge
- Experienced in the use of metrology stock control systems
- Experienced in the analysis of greases, oils and kerosene
- Good communication skills.
- Good knowledge and use of AutoCAD to design gauging and masters
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Metrology based role, or similar
- Previous experience in a high volume, fast paced manufacturing environment
- Evidence of effective team working skills
- Good verbal & written skills

**Job Types**: Permanent, Full-time

**Salary**: £22,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
