**Summary of the site**

Cygnet Harrow is a 60 bedded hospital based in one of the most beautiful areas in London. We have a variety of different wards, including male open rehab, male low secure services, and acute services. We cater predominantly for the LD/ ASD services on 3of our wards. We have a designated qualified OT and OTA on each ward as well as an Activity Coordinator supporting the activities on the acute ward.

We are currently looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy Team to support recovery and rehabilitation activities in the integrated care pathway at Cygnet. You will mainly be working on the male rehabilitation wards butthere will be some crossover and opportunity for rotation to the low secure ward as you progress within the role.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. The OccupationalTherapy Assistant will also be working with the in-house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.

**In this role you will**:

- Deliver planned activities for patients under the direction of the ward Occupational Therapist (OT) and Multidisciplinary Team
- Assist the OT in the day to day duties and running of the department
- Undertake assessment and intervention programmes with clients as delegated by a senior occupational therapist underpinned by appropriate experience / knowledge
- Contribute ideas, create and facilitate events and activities safely and support people to structure their time through meaningful activity
- Have involvement in the delivery of one to one and group interventions
- Implement individual care plans during activity sessions and take into account specific interests and opportunities to promote choice and independence.

**Occupational Therapy Directorate**

Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists and over 300 OT support staff. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialistinterest groups & become involved in service development.

Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.

We ensure our occupational therapy team members have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.

**Occupational Therapy Assistant Preceptorship & Induction**:
Starting a new job can be daunting, which is why we have a robust induction process that enables you to shadow staff, discuss your learning and receive expert support to develop into your role.

We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant preceptorship programme in your first12 months to support and consolidate core skills.We also offer regular, virtual Q&A sessions with our clinical lead OT and networking with other OT Assistants and ActivityCoordinators in your service line.
