**Brief overview of role**

Looking to develop a career in accountancy? You will learn the art of bookkeeping, assisting with the preparation of tax & VAT returns, management accounts, basic payroll duties, whilst also learning how to use accountancy software. You will need to have some administration experience to be considered for this role.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

Typical duties will include:

- Bookkeeping for clients (processing invoices, recording receipts, bank reconciliations)
- Assist with preparation of tax & VAT returns
- Perform basic Payroll duties
- Assist in preparation of Limited Company & Sole Trader accounts
- Assisting on audits
- Deal with company secretarial, confirmation statements & companies house forms
- Deal with general client queries to either conclusion or the point of escalation
- General administrative tasks

**Training**

The Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship standard includes 6 AAT exams, in addition to the Synoptic Assessment as part of the End-Point Assessment (EPA) process.

The knowledge units will be delivered at the EMA training hub in Derby or Nottingham (depending on apprentices’ location) through day release.

- Bookkeeping Transactions (L2 Unit)
- Bookkeeping Controls (L2 Unit)
- Advanced Bookkeeping
- Final Accounts Preparation
- Management Accounting: Costing
- Indirect Tax
