Cordius are working with a market leader in the Aerospace and Military industries based in Whitstable, Kent. They are a leading global interconnect Fortune 500 specialist company, who are continuing to grow and significantly invest in the future. They are looking for an Indirect Buyer to provide support to the business.
**Hours**: Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm and Friday 8am to 1.30pm
**Purpose of the role**:
Responsible for all aspects of procurement activity associated with procuring a designated range of materials, capital goods and site services at optimum cost to ensure the smooth running of the site and supporting the production facility. Estimated annual spend of £3-4M.
**Duties and responsibilities**:
- Work under the Purchasing Manager, focusing primarily on procurement for the site's expenses, both revenue and capital.
- Handle both strategic and operational purchasing tasks.
- Act as the main point of contact for non-inventory purchases.
- Regularly review all site purchasing requisitions and contracts to ensure cost-efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Create daily purchase orders that ensure quality, timely delivery, and meet company budgetary constraints.
- Oversee the VMI system, identify areas for enhancement, and maintain product availability.
- Manage supplier relationships and ensure delivery commitments are met.
- Proactively collaborate with suppliers to address issues and identify potential development opportunities.
- Maintain the ERP system, following best practices for non-inventory parts control.
- Coordinate with departments like Production, Quality, Operations, and Engineering to ensure quality and service level standards are met.
- Put in place strategic procurement projects to enhance service levels and realize cost savings.
- Establish key supplier performance metrics and reporting systems.
- Create a list of approved suppliers for non-inventory goods and services.
- Manage the tender and negotiation process for new contracts and renewals.
**Essential Criteria**
**Experience**
- At least 3 years in an indirect purchasing role
- Negotiating and managing contracts
- Managing supplier performance
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Working with KPI’s
**Skills & Competencies**
- Analytical skills

- Managing requisitions and purchase orders through an ERP system
- Strong negotiator
**Desirable Criteria**
**Qualifications**
- CIPS level 4 or above
**Experience**
- Indirect purchasing in a manufacturing environment
