Reed Education are looking to appoint an SEN Teaching assistant to work within a SEN school in Chester.

Starting ASAP covering a long term absence.

The school is an SEN provision catering for with Pupils with Complex Learning Difficulties including Autism and PMLD.

**Responsibilities within the role include**:

- You will be responsible for contributing to the development and effective delivery of child. care and manage processes and procedures in line with the school’s policies.
- Providing a compassionate and effective relationship with pupils.
- Observation and recording of academic development and behaviour.
- Contribution toward the implementation of care planning, reviews and other meetings.
- Utilisation of recognised techniques to support the young people in your care.
- To encourage the young people to take part in therapy, liaise with therapists to share information relevant to therapy and to support and reinforce therapy interventions in home settings.
- To attend and contribute to supervisions and staff meetings as required and to have smooth and comprehensive handovers ensuring reporting rules and guidelines are adhered to.
- To be able to physically intervene and restrain young people if required following appropriate training.
- To attend training when required.
- To support the young person in the classroom/school environment and to utilise time effectively when support is not required.
- To undertake all tasks and duties as directed by the teacher or another staff member to support young people and manage and monitor pupil risk during educational activities.
- To fully participate and support young people during outdoor/ indoor activities.

**Applicant experience and skills**
- Hold minimum NVQ Level 2 in Support Learning or equivalent.
- Demonstrate excellent classroom practice while supporting SEN pupils.
- Have knowledge and experience of catering for pupils with SEN.
- Ability to set high expectations to motivate and challenge pupils.
- Experience of monitoring and developing pupils progress.
- Ability to communicate effectively with pupils, staff and parents.
- Demonstrate being an effective team player and working collaboratively with colleagues.

**Experience within a specific SEN School setting is desirable but is not essential.**
