Quality Inspector with welding / fabrication background required in Whitstable, Kent.
£30K - £32K - 4 day week Monday to Thursday 39 Hrs + Overtime.
5 weeks holiday (plus bank hols), Pension, Life Assurance.

They have a rare opportunity for a Quality Inspector to join their busy engineering team. You will be inspecting large components, for both new build and refurbishment projects.

This would suit an experienced Quality Inspector, or a Fabricator / Welder with quality experience, wanting to move into a Quality Inspector role.

Quality Inspector requirements:

- Relevant Engineering qualification.
- Must be able to read Technical Drawings
- Knowledge of pipe fittings and flanges preferable.
- Knowledge and experience of inspecting fabrications & welding is essential.
- Understanding the properties of materials, manufacturing processes and methods.
- An understanding of problem solving / continuous improvement techniques.
- Computer literate with good communication skills.
- Attention to detail, particularly with respect to specifications and product quality.
- Task driven individual and able to drive tasks to an accurate completion.
- Must be self-motivated and a team player, able to make effective decisions and work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to actively and continuously improve activities by seeking new approaches and methods to the role.
- An interest in Health and Safety

The Role:

- Defects/Non-Conformities to be indicated to Workshop Manager/Supervisors.
- Become involved with Workshop Supervisors in marking up butt work for Non Destructive Testing (carried out by contractors).
- Perform in process quality checks utilizing hand metrology equipment ensuring products comply with relevant specifications.
- Record, organise and evaluate test results and generate QA inspection reports as and when required.
- Highlight any non-conformances and actively contribute to the overall quality of the product and processes.
- Maintain test equipment and ensure calibration is compliant for tests to be performed.
- Understand the materials to be tested, how they are manufactured and the impact on the end product.
- Co-operate with all departments to enhance the overall product/process quality is of the very highest standard.
