Children's Residential Support Worker

Newport, United Kingdom Luba Care CYF Full time

Our mission is to provide a good enough supportive environment for emotional and psychological childhood difficulties through a therapeutic group and individual process.
We are a privately owned specialist therapeutic Residential and consultation Service led by experienced psychological therapists.
We focus on assessing, formulating and caring for children and young people (CYP) who have emotional and behavioural difficulties that are likely rooted in early life traumas or attachment ruptures as well as those who may have experienced significant life disruption and are seeking asylum in the UK.
Our CYP may demonstrate struggles with their sense of self, with patterns of low self-esteem, difficulties in their relationships, disordered eating, or specific mental health needs. They may have more specific challenges with neurodevelopmental needs such as learning difficulties, ADHD or ASD.
We house up to two CYP aged between 5 and 18 years of age and of mixed gender. Some of our CYP may benefit from specific individual therapy beyond that provided by the setting and this can be accessed via our Therapeutic Consultant who is an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.
We do not accept emergency placements and have a robust system of assessing suitability and compatibility including limiting the number of available placements. This will allow staff and young people find ways of relating to each other in a phased and managed way. We find that this approach goes some way in reducing risk and fostering healthier placement.

Relationships matter and they are at the centre of the work we do. You will be part of this process in your working experience. You will receive at least once monthly 1:1 supervision from the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist/ Registered Manager and twice monthly group supervision from an experienced external supervisor. You will have a yearly appraisal of your work including identifying learning goals, career progression etc
We are seeking to appoint thoughtful and reflective Residential children’s care workers who can:
