Our Support Workers work in a variety of settings including community-based services (often supporting people in their own homes) to our Treatment & Recovery Centres.

One thing that is common across all of our services is a focus on personalised support and tailoring our services to the needs and aspirations of the people we support with a diverse range of care needs (including Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Concerns, Complex Care, Substance Misuse issues to name a few).

**About you**

There are a few things that we look for in all of our support workers; we would need you to
- be a good communicator (verbally and in writing)
- be patient, confident and enthusiastic about caring for others
- be able to use your own initiative
- be able to work as part of a team
- have flexibility to work a varied shift pattern to provide 24-hour support
- share our AFG values

We don’t ask for any other relevant training or a previous career in care as full training will be provided - you just need a willingness to learn and develop.

Your pay_ - _our Support Workers receive a rate of £11.00 per hour for all worked hours. Once you are successful for a role with us, full details of your pay will be included in your written offer.

- Where is this vacancy based?_
This vacancy is based in Kirkby.
- Who do you support?_
We support 2 gents who all have learning disabilities who need support with finance, medication, shopping, cooking, and prompts to complete personal care.
- What would a typical shift be like?_
At the start of a day shift, you'll help with personal care for the 2 gents first. That can be a range of things from helping to choose clothes to assisting with bathing and shaving.

Then it's off to breakfast. We encourage the 2 gents to get out their favorite cereal from the cupboard.

After that, you'll support with tidying up, medication and plan activities for the day with the gents and another staff member.

You will go out for an activity with the gents and then return and help support with lunch or evening meal.

Evening medication will be given, support with supper and then the 2 gents will go to bed.
- What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do?_
Shopping, gym, cinema, gardening, listening music, drawing, watching sci-fi films and reading Vice.

Good communication, out-going, basic cooking skills, and if you can bake cakes the guys would be delighted.
- What is the team here or is it lone-working?_
You will part of an experienced team who will help you to settle in and learn new skills and develop with AFG.
- What are your shift patterns?_
Shifts 07.30 to 22:30 days, 22:30 to 07:30 sleep-ins, activity shifts 09:00 to 14:00 or 09:00 to 15:00.
- Please note our Support Workers are contracted by area therefore flexibility is essential to work in other services where required._
