**The Role**

We are looking to recruit a Health Care Assistant to join the Medicine for older adults at University Hospital Hairmyres

The Health Care Assistant will carry out:

- Assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward/department environment
- Routine personal care checks and assist with routine examination duties for patients, in support of (and supervised by), a registered nurse/clinician.

**Dutie may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.**

**Contract type**

Band 2 / 2x Permanent

1x - Full Time / 37 Hours

1x - Part Time / 22.7 Hours

**What we'll need you to bring**
- Knowledge of personal care and related procedures or previous volunteer or work experience in a health, education or social environment.
- Required to undertake on the job training and induction
- Undertake mandatory HCSW standards
- Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.
- Working knowledge of basic information technology.

**It would be great if you also have**:

- SVQ II in healthcare, or working towards
- Previous experience working within a caring environment/role.
- Previous experience as a support worker in an acute environment
- Basic understanding of infection control
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Ability to escalate appropriatel
- Be able to undertake a variety of shifts which include days, evenings, nights, weekends, public holidays
- Ability to rotate between different departments or sites when required
