We have a new vacancy for a Trainee Shotfirer to join our team at Torr Works Quarry in Shepton Mallet

As Shotfirer/blasting technician you will report to the Quarry Manager at Torrs Hardrock quarry, you will work as part of the blasting team. Your core role will be planning and preparation of drilling and blasting sites and the design of the blast and compiling of the blast specification

You will adhere to and maintain strict health and safety rules and follow the safe systems of work, procedures and Shot Firing Rules you will follow all directions given by the Shotfirer and Explosive Supervisor

- Ability to work as part of a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation as required.
- Excellent communication and team working skills
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work to deadline
- Must not be a prohibited person under the Explosive Regulations 2014.
- Good Knowledge of Explosives and extractives.
- Ability to work to deadline, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Previous experience within a similar quarry operation is desirable.
- Relevant qualifications for example Shotfiring certificate, associated VQ.
