**Project Officer**

Fenland SOILis an organisation set up by farmers, for farmers, in the East Anglian Fens, tackling soil carbon emissions and other environmental challenges surrounding Lowland Agricultural Peat. We are a fast-paced organisation at the heart of this issue in the Fens, working with world leading organisations to help tackle our common problems and carrying out research and innovation with those on the ground to help inform and shape policy. We represent and collaborate with a wide variety of growers, agribusinesses, and other companies in the sector and are looking for dynamic, driven, innovative people who will help us to further our work.

Fenland SOIL are looking for a Project Officer to join their team to support with research projects and general administration. Reporting directly to our General Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to join our small team and work and learn with us at the heart of our innovative new project The role is part of our new £450,000 Paludiculture Exploration Fund Projectannounced as part of more than £12 million worth of funding released by Defra in response to the Lowland Agricultural Peat Taskforce Report. The role will see you engaging with farmers to collect data, planning knowledge exchange events and other day to day activities to help coordinate the project.

**Role Responsibilities of our Project Officer**
- Coordinating research project - responsible for day to day running of research project to support the General Manager.
- Field work - collecting data, liaising with farmers for the duration of the project to develop new maps.
- Processing and Analysis of data - working both independently and with academic partners
- Supporting the coordination and planning of events organised by Fenland Soil
- Basic financial management - Process purchase orders and invoices, chasing payments or invoice processes, basic accounting relating to the project budget.
- Ideally, you will be studying or have studied to degree level, or equivalent, in geography, environmental or soil sciences, agricultural studies, or ecology.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, or be a quick learner to pick up the required skills to manage tabular data and basic data analysis.
- Ability to work with a range of stakeholders towards project goals.
- Field working experience preferred but not essential.
- Full and valid UK drivers' licence is essential due to remote working.
- Advanced English (spoken and written).
- Ability to work in both a solitary and team environment.

**Job Type**: Full-Time, in person.

**Hours of Work**:40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Max 2 years fixed term.

**Salary**:£25,000-29,000 dependent on experience

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
