**Responsibilities**

- **
The following accountabilities will be essential for delivery in the role.
- Lead on developing and managing our data tools (azure/Microsoft principally) and deployment of best practice use.
- Creation of data standards and centrally controlled engineering processes.
- The ability to follow and drive “open by default” government principles. May also draw on other technical and analytical standards from across government and industry.
- Mange the data supply chain and associated data flows to ensure data is well managed (and secure) across the data landscape.
- Be the programme SME for allocated projects - prioritising and managing these effectively.
- Lead data engineering and management to incorporate and gather new data sets into our data management layer (Microsoft based).
- Review business requirements to ensure they are clear and robust and transform requirements into reusable production ready code and / or effective data models.
- Engage with data owners, suppliers, operations and end data users for data modelling; ETL developers for mapping specifications, producing appropriate technical documentation.
- Carry out investigative work or research to identify problems and possible solutions, thus facilitating the delivery of robust product ready products.
- Develop data pipelines and data models as critical part of our centre of excellence approach to business reporting. To allow business units to drive maximum value from or data assets.

**What are we looking for?**:

- Detailed knowledge and experience of working with Azure Data tooling (synapse/data factory etc).
- Willingness and\or experience of working with Adobe AEM technology.
- Data practitioner experienced in industry-standard agile methodologies.
- Experience of data pipeline automation, integration and ingestion.
- The ability to craft and maintain well managed data sets so that they can be used for both analytical and operational purposes.
- Experience of building out automatic error checking when deploying new data pipelines and models.
- Experience for developing and deploying API’s for data ingestion and manipulation.
- Familiarity with data quality, data standards, Open Data and data sharing practices.
- Ability to convey ideas and recommendations in a clear, compelling and succinct way in written and verbal communications.
- Works with stakeholders to identify objectives and potential benefits available.
- Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL/MS SQL).
- Ability to maintain and develop ETL processes across various technologies
- Experience of knowledge of SPARK and data bricks would be desirable
