Starting at 8:30am and finishing at 3:30pm, this role is for a full time (term time only) Teaching Assistant role in:
**A Key Stage 1 (6 to 7/8 years old) SEN Class to start in September 2022.**

The role is a long term role, treated permanent in an ongoing contract.

About the role:
Mainly KS1 classes (some children are Y3 but within a KS1 base) with a range of complex needs.

Some children will be non-verbal and communicate through gestures, their behaviour, but also some emerging communication strategies like PECS, Symbols, Signing.

The very large majority of children are mobile and some still require levels of personal care.

Learning looks like supporting play through independent learning, supporting children to attend in a circle time by using symbol support, or sitting next to children and verbally encouraging them.

Some children will doing adult directed work at table tops and some through their independent learning as in EYFS.

Good initiative - can see when children are putting things in mouth, risk assess environment constantly, removing items that are dangerous,

Be animated and not afraid to get stuck in and involved in being able to sing songs, model playing with different toys, use initiative to support children transitioning around from place to place i.e. can you follow my leader, use theme songs as motivators, use animated language like a Cbeebies presenter.

Be able to read a plan and interpret to know what to do.

**Ideal experience**:
Previous experience of working in nurseries and Early years settings or KS1/EYFS SEN settings. Other experiences are of interest so please apply.
