Situated in beautiful Dorset with the prestigious Blue Flag beaches of Bournemouth and Sandbanks, the Jurassic coastline and a wealth of attractions and countryside to visit we are lucky to be in such a fantastic area.

We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Physiologist to be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective respiratory nursing care to the whole practice respiratory population at our Parkstone Towers Practice, Dorset but across Shore as necessary, on a permanent part time basis.

**Job responsibilities**:

- To work collaboratively with the whole PCN team to meet the needs of the patients, supporting delivery of policy and procedures and provide direction to colleagues.
- To work autonomously to undertake the routine assessment of patients with a long-term condition and provide clinical management in line with national/ local guidelines and in liaison with medical colleagues.
- To provide a high standard of nursing care in adherence to Practice policies, protocols and guidelines at all times, and ensure maintenance of current clinical knowledge in relation to relevant chronic disease along with treatment room skills.
- The post holder needs to be flexible in line with the present atmosphere for change within the health service delivery. It is essential that the nurse work within own level of competency and expand her/his role in accordance with practice requirements and own scope of practice.
- To have a high level of knowledge of Respiratory Disease (Asthma/ COPD) and to have undertaken the relevant diploma or educational courses to ensure effective competency within the role.
- To deliver Respiratory services to patients, ensuring that the needs of the patient are paramount and provide liaison between primary and secondary care in relation to area of responsibility.
- To attend regular educational updates/ refreshers to maintain current clinical knowledge and manage conditions in line with relevant national and local guidelines.
- To provide a holistic approach to assessment and actively encourage patients to set action plans for change of lifestyle to improve conditions.
- To be ARTP Registered and competent in the undertaking of investigatory tests i.e. Spirometry & peak flow and understand the results of investigations to be able to diagnose or to manage condition.
- To have a good understanding of QOF requirements and support the Practice in its data collection to achieve all relevant targets.
- The post holder should work within their own level of clinical competency and scope of practice, referring onto medical colleague or other health care professional as appropriate.
- To provide patients and carers with psychological support by discussing relevant intervention and treatment. Providing information on local support networks available.
- To provide an educational role to patients, carers, families, and colleagues in an environment that facilitates learning to ensure competency and compliance.
- The undertaking of medication reviews within the realms of the post holder’s competence and the NMC Code of Conduct and referral to patients GP where appropriate.
- Where the post holder is an independent prescriber; to prescribe safe, effective and appropriate medication as defined by current legislative framework.
- Utilise audit as a means of evaluating the quality of work of self and the respiratory team, implementing improvements where required.
- Support the development of other colleagues in respiratory care and provide clinical supervision/mentorship as required.
- Be aware of practice-based commissioning and current initiatives to improve existing patient services and be actively involved where appropriate.
- To work with Head of Nursing and Directors in identifying issues related to respiratory nursing care and participate in the planning and implementation of changes within area of care and responsibility.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Registered General Nurse (registered with NMC).
- Recognised Respiratory qualification and relevant investigatory skills
- ARTP Trained
