**Graduate Building Surveyor**:

We are looking to recruit an Intermediate or Graduate Building Surveyor in our Cambridge office for 2023. You will be supported by a team with extensive experience in the industry who are keen to share their knowledge. There will be a clear plan for your progression with goals set out for you to progress towards chartership and beyond.
This role will see you delivering existing projects and services across a range of sectors, and you can expect to join a vibrant team and inclusive office, delivering a varied range of building surveying commissions Our clients are diverse and include the National Trust, The Crown Estate, HS2, and the British Library to name a few.

**MAIN TASKS**:
You will gain experience in the following areas:
- Provide a full building surveying services to external clients of Carter Jonas and in-house where required.
- Provide support and advice to other members of the Architecture and Building Consultancy Department and assist with workload sharing where necessary.
- Carry out Building Surveys of all types of commercial buildings and residential properties.
- Preparation of Schedules of Dilapidations and subsequent negotiations with opposing clients and professional representatives.
- Project management, Contract Administration and design for refurbishment, conversion, and new build projects for commercial, rural and residential premises.
- Prepare and issue feasibility studies working with other disciplines as necessary.
- Undertake Principal Designer role for small projects where necessary to comply with CDM 2015 for in-house and external clients. Providing professional advice to clients and others as required.
- Provide Party Wall etc Act 1996 service to Building and Adjoining owners.
- Preparation of Schedules of Condition and subsequent negotiations with opposing client’s professional representatives.
- Prepare and advise clients on Preventative Planned Maintenance and strategies for implementing the same.
- Investigating and advising client on specific building problems / defects.
- Undertaking DDA access audits.
- Expert witness services
- Technical due diligence and Legislative compliance audits
**WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO BE SUCCESSFUL?**
You will also have experience within a Commercial practice gained through work experience or placements. It is essential that you have a full UK driving licence. Although it would be unreasonable to expect the full range of skills and experience from the outset, the jobholder must be capable of developing into a job runner and fee earner, with:
- Sound organisational skills and the ability to work to a deadline
- Technical knowledge commensurate with a good graduate standard
- The ability to work within a team
- Clear written and oral communication skills
- The willingness to learn
We are looking for forward thinking graduates with a can-do attitude, you will have the ability to manage multiple project and deal with a variety of work.

In addition, we pay your APC registration fee and your first APC final assessment, and offer up to five days study leave.
