The new Forest of Dean hospital inpatient ward offers 24 single, larger than standard bedrooms. But more than this, the new Forest site offers a unique patient gym facility with modern equipment to enable proactive rehabilitation and following recent consultation, will be the only unit with 7 day a week therapy in place from later this year.

We are seeking a creative, bold leader who can help stretch our thinking, implement evidence-based practice and deliver on change to ensure outstanding care. The Therapy Lead will passionately lead and develop a proactive and rehabilitation focussed therapy team encompassing OT, PT, Rehabilitation assistants and profession specific assistants. The rehabilitation and reablement model at the Forest hospital will aim to increase access to high quality therapy-led multi-disciplinary rehabilitation assessment and interventions. Providing a clear focus on co-created patient goals and outcome measures to enable patients to return home and reducing length of stay in an inpatient unit.

The therapy lead will be instrumental in leading the new model of working across 7 days, enabling the delivery of optimised care through rehabilitation activities in the inpatient setting. This will support registered therapists providing specialist assessments and managing the complexity of patient presentations with frameworks in place to support delegation, accountability and supervision to support workers.

To provide professional and operational leadership to the therapy team on the inpatient ward.

To work with the Ward Manager to ensure therapy provision needs are better aligned to the ward MDT delivery model.

To lead and embed a culture of 7 day working, enabling achievement of co-created therapy goals in a more timely way and reduce the average length of stay for patients.

To work clinically over a 7 day period

To provide direct clinical care to patients as well as professional and clinical leadership and expertise to enable development of the therapy offer in the Community Hospitals, providing profession specific advice and support and direct clinical decision making (patient and service specific) on all relevant matters to ensure the quality of services provided.

To work in clinical practice, delivering and role modelling exemplary care and assuring high standards of professional practice are maintained.

To work in partnership as part of the Community Hospitals Operational Team to ensure high quality clinical care is delivered operationally.

To work effectively across the Community Hospitals with a countywide perspective and ensure all staff adhere to their Professional Code of Conduct as a registered professional.

In collaboration with the Matrons and Professional Head of Service to ensure alignment of professional priorities with organisational priorities and core business.

To support a positive culture of development, growth and progression within the organisation.

To embed values, holism and integrated MDT working. Collaborating with the management team and other leads to ensure high quality care delivery.

To be an expert, role model and mentor to colleagues in your profession.
