We are looking for a highly driven, motivated, and passionate nurse to lead and develop our Neonatal Unit. We are recruiting an individual with strong compassionate leadership skills to continue to deliver high quality care, alongside the Neonatal department and as part of the Children’s services management team, who work closely with all the Trusts Critical Care Units. We are seeking a dynamic motivated manager and welcome applicants with senior clinical and leadership experience gained in any critical care environment. Alongside the clinical lead, you will represent the nursing and patient voice for neonatal care at both local and national level, with the support of a motivated MDT who strive to deliver excellence. You will provide professional and effective clinical leadership for all levels of the neonatal team ensuring high standards of excellent, compassionate, and quality care are delivered to the baby and their family

An enthusiastic and dynamic leader and manager is required to join the senior leadership team within the Children’s Hospital Directorate to take responsibility for the Neonatal units. We are therefore looking for someone who has recognition as an innovator with experience of change management and a reputation for professional excellence. Additionally, the post holder will work collegiately with the Clinical Lead, the Directorate Matron team and the Operational Service Manager. We are seeking individuals, who are highly professional, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, unequivocal commitment to improving patient, family and staff experience, and an outstanding record in collaborative working within and across multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.

Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) is a regional centre for prenatal and feto-maternal medicine and the OUH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is the regional medical and surgical referral centre for complex neonatal care in the Thames Valley Neonatal Network (31000 births). The NICU also provides all newborn care services for the local population (8500 deliveries). The unit currently has 50 cots (16 ICU/12HDU/22SCBU).

The Oxford Children’s Hospital is one of the 10 largest Children’s Hospitals within the UK providing services from birth to transition to 18 years. It offers a comprehensive range of secondary/ tertiary and quaternary paediatric services in medical, surgical specialties, Community Services, Paediatric Critical care, High dependency, and Neonatal Services. The Oxford Children’s Hospital has six in-patient wards, a Children’s Day Care ward, Children’s Clinical Decision unit (CDU) and a large Outpatient department in the John Radcliffe site. At the Horton General Hospital (HGH) the directorate has a Children’s Ward and Outpatient services. There is also a Children’s outpatient department at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. Paediatric Critical care and Neonatal care for children in the Thames Valley and Wessex region is delivered at both Oxford and Southampton Children’s Hospitals supported by Southampton and Oxford retrieval service (SORT and SONET).

The post holder will be accountable to the Clinical Lead for service and professionally report to the Divisional Director of Nursing.
