Dt Technician

Destination Education is currently looking for an experienced DT Technician to join a co-educational comprehensive secondary school and sixth form located in Central London.They are a ‘nationally recognised award winning school’ with state of the artfacilities and an innovative and dynamic curriculum that challenges students to reach their full potential.The ideal DT Technician will provide technical support to the relevant departments, by the preparation of tools, equipment and materials for lessons.The role will be to start as soon as possible on a full time basis following a successful fully paid trial day.
Responsibilities of a DT Technician
- Prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons
- Monitor and maintain equipment and stock within the DT department to ensure all pupils are able to access a wide range of materials
- Carry out weekly material/equipment checks and liaise with the head of department in the ordering of materials and equipment
- Demonstrate machinery use to students and offer any technical support during lesson time
- Perform health and safety checks on all equipment

Ideal DT Technician
- Hold a relevant qualification in Technology or Design or have previous work experience as a DT Technician
- Familiar with using and maintaining machinery/equipment such as drills, saws, hand tools etc
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
- Ability to work closely with staff and students, building positive relationships
- Experience working with children/young people
