**The Role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Emergency Department Receptionist to join our team at University Hospital Wishaw working various out of hours.

The post holder is required to provide a comprehensive reception service within the Acute Emergency Department ensuring patients are admitted to the department, efficiently and accurately recording demographics, details of injury/illness, providing a high level of customer care. The post holder will also liaise closely with the Emergency Department clinical and nursing team, supporting them and ensuring nursing staff are informed if a patient is in obvious distress. The post holder will also liaise closely with the Scottish Ambulance Service; and other relevant departments to ensure an efficient and effective service provision.

As a first point of contact, the post holder will provide a friendly, respectful and efficient service to patients, relatives and visitors either face to face or by telephone. The post holder will receive patient enquiry calls for the hospital, answering and re-directing as necessary.

The post holder will undertake the scanning process for Emergency Department paper records, to ensure good data quality of the scanned electronic patient record.

**What we'll need you to bring**:

- Ideally educated to standard grade.
- Experience in working within a patient/customer care environment.
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection.
- Knowledge of moving and handling skills.
- Customer care skills.
- Computer literate.
- Keyboard skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative (working alone).
- Ability to multi task & work under pressure.
- Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff at all levels.

**It would be great if you also have**:

- Ideally educated to SVQ3 or SVQ2 or equivalent experience, plus ECDL or equivalent. Knowledge of health records, or patient/customer care knowledge.
- Experience of working within a patient/customer care or health records environment for 2 years or more.
- Knowledge of administrative computer systems.
- Ability to work in a busy environment.
- Flexibility to cover various shifts 24/7 including public holidays

**Contract type**:
Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months.

Part Time

22.5 hours

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

**Location and Working Pattern**:
This role will be based in the Emergency Department at University Hospital Wishaw.

The working pattern for this role are various out of hours.
