**Salary**: NJC Grade 4 £21,575 to £21,968

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is being funded by the DfE till March 2025. The DfE have set out clear ambitions and aims for the programme, which provides food and activities for four days for each of 6 weeks covering the Easter, Summer and Christmas breaks. The scheme is open for children of statutory school age who are eligible for a Free School Meal (currently circa 19,000).

Provision cannot be centred on key areas but must be available for all those who are eligible across the county.

You’ll be dealing regularly with queries from the public and responding independently to problems & customer queries, although you’ll recognise when to access your supervisor / manager for advice or support on unusual or difficult problems. You’ll also be responsible for inputting and retrieving large quantities of data from a variety of sources with care and accuracy.

- Good communication, customer service and interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with the general public and act as a point of information, advice and guidance where appropriate.
- Ability to work as part of a team, completing shared tasks in order to deliver a service to others.
- Ability to meet set deadlines and to understand when problems need to be referred upwards, e.g. in responding to complaints promptly for a quick accurate solution.
- Analytical and judgement skills in order to effectively assist with customer queries.
- Proficient IT skills, using Microsoft Office Suite, in order to be able to use service databases, photocopiers, scanners and the internet with accuracy and efficiency.

**Qualifications and/or experience**:

- 4 GCSEs with A-C passes including Maths and English or equivalent qualification or experience demonstrating that level of numeracy and literacy.
- An IT qualification or equivalent experience demonstrating good working knowledge of IT systems / procedures.
- Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance qualification - **_Desirable_**:

- Literacy, numeracy and communication skills sufficient to follow procedures for a range of Early Childhood Service support tasks.
- Experience of dealing with the public and providing an excellent customer service providing specialist information, advice and guidance.
- Experience of team working.
- Experience in the delivery of child or family support services in the statutory or non-statutory sector - **_Desirable_**

**Key responsibilities**

Communicate in an appropriate manner with a wide range of people through face-to-face contact, electronic media and over the telephone, including taking clear and accurate messages and dealing with customer comments and complaints.

Contribute to the operation of grant schemes and deal with complex queries, liaising with WSCC colleagues and ensuring accurate and timely recording of information.

Input straightforward information into various computerised systems with accuracy to meet the needs of the service e.g. maintain and update various databases, handling pages and scripting, registration.

Searching information using various specialist databases / electronic resources.

Produce and prepare reports, spreadsheet information and packs relating to specific events or projects, and for formal reporting to the Department of Education.

Make resource bookings and set up rooms for local groups with resources, tables, chairs, IT equipment, etc. e.g. special needs groups.
