We have a thriving and innovative foundation school in the East of England. This school has adapted to technology enhanced learning, been innovative in the types of learning opportunities provided, and has successfully embedded multi-professional teaching.

We are committed to excellence in support of these trainees at the start of their career and see simulation training as a key part of this early career education. We would expect the post holder to drive up standards in medical simulation and would encourage a dynamic and innovative approach to best utilise our SIM resources throughout the region.

The main remit of the job is to lead on simulation and procedural training for the Foundation school. This includes:
1. Liaising with FTPDs and simulation leads in individual trusts to ensure simulation training is being delivered to all Foundation trainees in the region.
2. Ensuring capacity of these courses is adequate, that they fulfil Foundation curricular requirements and that targeted interventions can be provided for trainees with particular learning needs.
3. Assessing the quality of these courses.
4. Working with trusts and our VR SIM provider to develop our VR SIM capability

Education and Training Quality Improvement and Performance
- To emphasise the importance and promote the development of a quality Simulation learning environment for all learners.
- To support Postgraduate Deans in meeting all NHSE statutory requirements.

Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality Improvement
- To support the use of clinical skills training and simulation (where appropriate/applicable), stressing the importance of teamwork and human factors.

Educational and Workforce Development
- Professional Development of the educational faculty in the area of medical Simulation
- To create and promote shared learning opportunities to increase effective inter-professional working across the School.

Setting Direction & Service Improvement
- To provide effective clinical leadership
- To ensure delivery of Foundation Simulation training through local initiatives and programmes.
- To promote or lead work programmes on behalf of NHSE that support local and national developments and initiatives in medical simulation

Strategic Workforce Development and Commissioning

To develop and maintain the foundation simulation educational programme throughout the region to support achievement of curriculum competencies, engaging with commissioning processes as required.

- To contribute to workforce planning, ensuring clinical engagement with local and national workforce planning processes.
- To develop educational programmes where needed to support achievement of curriculum competencies, engaging with commissioning processes as required.
- To identify and support the implementation of alternative workforce solutions within the School.
- To advise the Postgraduate Dean on commissioning and decommissioning activities.
