About the role
**It's knowing you're protecting the community that surrounds you.**:

- It's feeling trusted to deliver to the very highest standards. And it's the pride in protecting an environment of unique historic importance. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional._
Joining the professional and dedicated Fire and Access team at Buckingham Palace, you'll provide a 24/7 fire surveillance service and support all aspects of fire safety across the entire London estate.
As a visible presence, you'll also support access control at one of our sites, ensuring visitors are authorised and welcomed.
You'll monitor and respond to automatic fire detection systems, carry out regular fire safety inspections, ad-hoc patrols, as well as acting as first-response in the event of a fire or security alert.
Maintaining schedules for tested equipment will be an important task, and you'll carry out dynamic risk assessments in the event of an incident.
The breadth of this role will provide opportunities to develop your existing skills, whilst gaining experience and training in new areas, enabling you to deliver a vital service to this unique organisation.

About you
While experience in a similar role is needed and a FETA qualification is desirable, it's your pro-active attitude and team-focused approach that will make the real difference.
With a good level of physical fitness, you'll be confident working at heights and in confined spaces.
You'll be confident identifying and addressing fire safety risks across multiple sites. Interpersonal skills are vital too, because you’ll be working closely with a wide range of people including employees, residents and visitors.
Ideally trained in first aid, including the use of defibrillator and oxygen resuscitation equipment, you'll be able to provide support to first aid incidents on-site when needed.
Basic IT skills are a must, and you'll ideally have experience of computerised fire and/or security monitoring and access control systems.
Above all, you'll have initiative and a responsive attitude, essential qualities that will enable you to deliver to the highest standards every day.
In return you will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, a 15% employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility - to increase contributions or draw down as salary), with training and development, as well as a range of catering and recreational facilities.
