Senior Baker

Hot Numbers Coffee Ltd is a vibrant and independent coffee roasting business serving fresh and exciting food at our three cafés in Cambridgeshire. Our large commercial bakery, based at The Roastery Café in Shepreth, has state of the art equipment and plenty of space to work in. Our passionate team produces a wide range of artisan bread, cakes and pastries to the highest standard for our cafés in Cambridge and our wholesale customers. We specialise in slow fermentation and sourdough.

We are looking for creative, efficient and experienced individuals to join us at our bakery. We are continually expanding our production and are looking for passionate, hardworking people to help us with daily production and create products of the highest standard. As well as our sourdough and cake production we also run pizza nights The successful applicant will have the chance to be cross trained across every aspect of the bakery including pizza, so this role is an exciting opportunity to learn a new skill

Main Duties and Skills:

- Utilize your expertise to create and prepare a wide variety of bakery items, including bread, pastries, cakes, and other seasonal specialties.
- Ensure that all baked goods are produced in accordance with Hot Numbers' quality and presentation standards.
- Supervise and mentor junior bakers, coordinating their tasks and providing guidance to maximize their potential.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team and other stakeholders to develop new recipes and flavours that align with our brand and customer preferences.
- Monitor stock levels, and place orders as needed.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines while working with kitchen equipment.
- Maintaining a clean, organized baking area.
- Consistently achieve high standards of taste, texture, and presentation, always aiming for customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to the overall success of Hot Numbers' operations by performing additional duties as assigned.

Personal Attributes:

- Proven experience as a professional Baker.
- Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced environment.
- Have a positive can-do attitude with the ability to work under pressure.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Flexible availability, including weekdays and weekends.

Availability and hours of work:
This is a full-time job role. The successful applicant would be looking to dedicate at least 6 months to the role due to our employee on-boarding training program here at Hot Numbers. Unfortunately, if you have plans to travel or study this role is not for you. Our full-time contracts are 40 hours based on a 5-day working week out of 7. You will be required to be available weekends, early mornings and the occasional evening. Our shifts are rotated as necessary. We also run pizza nights on Fridays and Saturdays with later starts and closes that can run till 8pm.

Employment: Your starting pay will be reviewed with successful completion of a 6-month probationary period within your role.

Pay: From £12.70 per hour
