**The Role**

This role is for 15 months fixed term contract, maternity cover.

The Gift Design Lead supports and manages the designers and artworkers, working closely with the Creative Category lead & Category Project Manager to ensure the development of the Gifts category and new collections.

This role plays a crucial part in the ongoing success of any individual gift or range, and works with the Creative Lead, buying team, designers (freelance or internal), artist groups, suppliers and support teams to ensure seamless development and delivery. This role is also key to the ongoing creative and career development of individuals within the team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Working with the Creative Category Lead and Senior designer to enable successful communication, creation and delegation of design briefs to designers, artworkers, external groups/designers.
- Finalising details such as licensing, any copy needed and organisation of the supply of samples with the support of the Gifts Coordinator.
- Key communicator with artist groups to support and source new artworks whilst Identifying opportunities to work with new groups and designers, building strong, lasting positive relationships.
- Supporting Creative Lead to collate design references and possible new collaborations, including Design Library for new collections.
- Able to lead projects effectively, meet deadlines and direct the team.
- Supports monitoring of timelines for projects alongside Gifts Project Manager and Senior Designer.
- Contributing design and expertise to a variety of gift ranges. Strengthening others’ skills in print production/design development.
- Facilitating artworks for proofing, checking and approving design finishes/print set-up, alongside Senior Designer.
- Regularly gives feedback and guidance to the team, usually through one to one conversations.
- Manages pay reviews, holiday & sickness.
- Manages creative and career development for the team.
- Manages recruitment & onboarding within the team.
- Actively seeks new opportunities to support the growth of the team.
- Manages the workflow and projects for the designers and other team members.
- Facilitates and organises regular creative reviews of the work led from direction of the Creative Category Lead.

**Desirable skills**
- Expert software skills in Adobe CC and able to share skills with the rest of the team.
- Able to set up artwork for print and digital processes.
- Able to check and sign off complex and large format graphics, providing clear feedback and guidance where necessary
