**CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITIES**:

**PURPOSE OF ROLE**:
Working with the Payroll Officer and HR Manager to gain all the knowledge and skills to solely deliver a customer focused in house payroll service (intention to work towards becoming a Payroll Officer level);
A support/cover for the Payroll Officer;
Assist in delivering the accurate and timely payment of salaries and pensions in the day to day operational requirements of payroll;
To constantly strive to improve the standard of the payroll service and take personal responsibility for identifying areas of improvement and ownership for addressing those required improvements;
Working collaboratively with the wider HR team to support the improvement of wider HR team to achieve the overall HR vision: Insight rich, future facing True enabler Providing a value added service

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
To assist in the delivery of the groups monthly payroll accurately and in a timely way by:
Checking of variable data and inputting correctly into the system ensuring any corrections to data are made;
Assisting with issues raised by internal customers by ensuring payment of claims are authorised by managers;
Undertaking manual calculations of the effect of payroll changes (including Starters, Leavers, Tax, NIC, Pension) using analytical skills with a view to getting it right first time;
Assist, the Payroll Officer, with the reconciliation of payroll through to the BACS submission stage including making BACS submission in conjunction with the Director of Finance, Head of Treasury in Finance & Director of People;
Assist with third party payment to ensure they are paid accurately and on time including arranging the BACS payments ready for authorisation by the Director of People;
Assist to ensure all statutory reporting, record keeping and administration requirements relating to pension auto enrolment are upheld;
Look to transform any manual processes to digital processes wherever possible;
Working with Business Systems, HR Manager, HR Data & Systems Specialist & Cascade Systems Co-ordinator, ensure the system is being used to it’s full capacity and investigating any changes that can be made to improve the system and payroll process;
Documenting, reviewing and updating payroll processes and documentation in order to respond to audit recommendations and reflect areas of improvement ( including a full audit trail of creation, approval and review dates) ;
Working collaboratively with team and wider business. Internal relationships/collaborative working - i.e. finance, utilise wider HR Admin team for Payroll and increase their knowledge of payroll;
Effective demonstration that confidentiality and data protection GDPR policies and procedures are maintained at all times by regular review of statutory and organisation policies and procedures on such matters;
