Head of Children's Social Care

Cornwall, United Kingdom Cornwall Council Full time

identifying additional needs earlier and providing easy access to the right support before problems become entrenched, serious and difficult to tackle.

Being a Head of Service is an extremely challenging role, but also an extremely fulfilling one, where you can have a major impact on transforming the lives of the most vulnerable children and families in Cornwall. The role combines strategic and operational responsibilities, supported by a Service Manager and area management team. You will have direct leadership and management responsibility for a wide range of multi-disciplinary services, providing early help and statutory social care to children, young people and their families, with the aim of maximising opportunities for good outcomes for all children and closing the gap in outcomes for the children at risk of and experiencing adverse childhood experiences, abuse and neglect.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

Whilst the location/work-base for this role may have been specified our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to also work remotely (e.g., from home/other locations). We will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.

We are happy to talk about flexible working options such as part-time or compressed hours. More examples of our flexible working opportunities can be found here - flexible working options.

**What we can offer you**

In recognition of the vital contribution you make, we offer an attractive package of benefits including:

- A competitive salary.
- A generous relocation package.
- Joining a friendly, high performing, supportive Senior Leadership Team.
- An tailored induction to meet your specific learning and support needs.
- An outstanding core curriculum to support your ongoing leadership development with a high quality programme of evidence-based learning and development to enhance skills and practice.
- Access to a Cornwall Council lease car.
- At least 26 days paid annual leave per year (rising with length of service), plus bank holidays.
- Flexible working opportunities.
- A license to access Community Care Inform and Research in Practice.
