Overview:
We are currently seeking a practising Catholic to join our team as our School Chaplain. The School Chaplain will work with students, staff, parents, Governors and local clergy to promote and maintain the Catholic ethos and Spiritual values of our School. We are looking for an inspirational individual who will make a significant contribution to the faith journey of our School Community.

**Responsibilities**:

- To co-ordinate daily prayer, in every form group and year group and whole school Prayer & Liturgy every day.
- To attend staff briefing, key meetings and lead times of Prayer & Liturgy as requested.
- To create a development plan for Chaplaincy, including Catholic Life and Mission and Prayer & Liturgy/Collective Worship in consultation with key stakeholders including the Senior Leadership Team and to ensure its implementation and evaluation.
- To support the development of CSI documentation and the CSI inspection process for Section 48 under the direction of Senior Leaders in collaboration with the RE department. This will include leading on Catholic Life and Mission and Prayer & Liturgy.
- To develop a Chaplaincy team within the school to include the SLT, RE department, pupils, staff, parents/carers and governors.
- To lead and support social justice group(s) (e.g. Faith in Action, LiveSimply, SVP), including linking to local parishes.
- To establish the Faith in Action Award for pupils that includes supporting parish activities.
- To work with the Head of RE to plan and implement times of reflection for pupils and Chapel sessions which support the curriculum.
- To liaise and work with the Parish Priest to plan, develop and celebrate additional liturgies to mark major feasts of the Church and events in the life of the school.
- To represent the school at appropriate networking events and the Archdiocese.
- To undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the Headteacher and Senior Leaders.
- To liaise and network with other relevant groups and individuals in local parishes (including feeder primary schools) and Archdiocese e.g. Catholic Life & Chaplaincy, other Chaplains, youth events, CAFOD.
- To support out of term enrichment activities (for example, Year 6 transition and retreats, pilgrimages).
- To develop a detailed understanding of the school, its context, its community, its systems and expectations.
- To support the Parish/Deanery Sacramental programmes, especially the Sacrament of Confirmation (including taking an active part in Confirmation Sessions in the Parish/Deanery)**Resources**
- To undertake general administration such as processing documentation for planning whole school Prayer & Liturgy, organising educational visits, liaising with SLT on whole school ethos, etc.
- To have the relevant ICT skills.
- To maintain stock and supplies of resources, cataloguing and distributing as required.
- To liaise with Senior Leadership Team and RE staff in order to maintain displays around the school. In particular, to maintain appropriate signs and symbols of our Catholic community in prominent areas.
- To enhance the development of Prayer & Liturgy by training and supporting staff, training and supporting pupils, preparing and distributing new materials in line with the liturgical calendar and the assembly/Prayer & Liturgy calendar alongside the Senior Leaders.
- To develop the Prayer & Liturgy Policy in collaboration with the Senior Leaders.
- To contribute to the Headteacher Newsletter to parents under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, for circulation to all stakeholders and contribute to other reporting procedures as requested.
- To report regularly to the Headteacher and governors.

**Prayer & Liturgy**
- To be responsible for the Chaplaincy and Chapel.
- To create a welcoming and prayerful atmosphere and develop the appearance of the areas.
- To encourage the appropriate use of these areas by pupils and staff.
- To empower, train and resource others to be effective and inspiring leaders of prayer and liturgy: staff and pupils.
- To ensure that Holydays of Obligation, the Our Lady Queen of Peace Feast Day and other important liturgical events are observed in accordance with the liturgical calendar and the prayer & liturgy calendar.
- To evaluate the prayer life of the school and support the QA processes.
- To make arrangements for the regular celebration of Mass, times of Eucharistic Adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation within the school with the local parish
- To form good working relationships with the local priest and parishes and facilitate partnership working between parish/deanery/diocese and school.

**The Community**
- To establish good working relationships with staff and pupils, acting as a role model and witness to the Catholic faith.
- To ensure inclusion and acceptance of all pupils, with special consideration for the most vulnerable in the community.
