**Main Duties**
- To provide a high-quality counselling service to pupils experiencing a wide range of emotional challenges.
- To provide support, advice and guidance to pupils, staff, parents and guardians.
- To observe confidentiality and to support the school’s endeavour to provide excellent pastoral care and standards of safeguarding for pupils at Roedean.
- To work within the Code of Ethics and Practice of the BACP and any other professional body of which they are a member.
- To collate, review and allocate all referrals to the service.
- To meet regularly with the Deputy Head, Pastoral to maintain and address safeguarding issues to ensure an integrated counselling service within the school.
- To be responsible for the regular clinical supervision for the counsellors in the team.
- To hold regular team meetings to maintain and develop a cohesive team.
- To provide regular clinical support to the Peer Listener students.
- To co-ordinate and deliver bespoke group work ie Transition group, Self Esteem, Friendship groups, Exam Stress etc.
- To respond to changes in trends and themes within the school environment and develop the counselling provision accordingly.
- To regularly attend Welfare and Safeguarding meetings to offer professional guidance on pastoral issues.
- To maintain an adequate level of monthly supervision.
- To undertake other duties from time to time as required by the Deputy Head, Pastoral e.g. leading parts of assemblies or working with small groups of identified pupils.
- To maintain a high standard of adequate records of clinical sessions.
- To communicate with other staff and outside agencies on behalf of the pupil.
- To prepare an annual report for the Deputy Head, Pastoral with regard to trends or key issues.
- To liaise with members of the Health Centre to ensure the delivery of effective co-operative services.

**Person Specification**
- BACP accredited or equivalent
- Clinical Supervisor qualification desirable
- Experience of working with young people essential
- Ability/willingness to take decisions, manage time effectively and to work unsupervised
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience of working in the education sector desirable
- A recognised qualification appropriate for the post, at least to diploma level.
- Experience/further qualification in working with children, young people and families.
- Knowledge of current Child Protection practice, including Keeping Children Safe in Education.
- Ability to liaise/consult, as appropriate, with a range of professionals and agencies as well as students and parents.
- Ability to maintain clear, up-to-date case notes, to write well-presented reports and complete accurate admin records within time limits.
- Ability to advocate on behalf of students.
- An ability to work confidently under pressure.
- An ability to establish and maintain supportive relationships with students.
- Commitment to work cooperatively with school and team colleagues, and other professionals.
- Evidence of a constructive approach to problem solving.

**Salary**: Depending on experience

**Hours**: 24 hours per week over 3 days, term time only (34 weeks)
