School Finance Officer

**Contract Basis **37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
**Salary **SCP 15-18 (£23,541 - £24,982)
**Overall Purpose of the Role**:
To provide a customer-focused and effective finance shared service operation that facilitates accurate, timely and efficient processing that meets the needs of all customers and stakeholders.
To ensure that the Trust’s financial processes adhere to financial regulations, the Academies Financial Handbook and any other requirements specified by the Financial Controller.
**Key Duties**:
1. **Financial processing**
- To assist with the ordering of goods/services in accordance with the Trust’s financial processes;
- To match and process purchase invoices and credit notes ensuring they are coded correctly;
- To issue ad hoc budget holder report to heads of department as and when requested;
- To assist with supplier payment and account queries;
- To have responsibility for the banking of income, petty cash and charity collections;
- Setting up of new clients approved in the finance system;
- To produce aged debtors reports and to investigate aged transactions as part of credit control procedures;
- To liaise with colleagues to ensure the timely receipt of outstanding income with external organisation.
- To administer petty cash, credit card and staff expense transactions including basic reconciliation of the associated ledgers.
- Support the Finance team in debt collection processes;
- Produce financial journals as part of the monthly reporting process.
2. **Financial administration**
- Maintain excellent electronic and manual filing systems and audit trails for all financial processes;
- Monitor and administer arrangements for student trips and the sale and issue of uniforms;
- Forward transactions for approval within the policies and limits set out in the scheme of financial delegation.
3. **Communication**
- Maintain good communications with suppliers, customers and other parties, including banks;
- Manage strong and effective communications with all service users, maintaining a customer - service ethos at all times.
- Be the main point of contact for staff / supplier queries.
4. **Any other duties**
- Comply with the Trust’s policies, financial regulations and scheme of delegation at all times;
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Finance Manager.
**Safeguarding of Children Young people and Vulnerable Adults**
To be aware of and work in accordance with the Trust safeguarding child protection policies and procedures in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and to raise any concerns relating to such procedures which may be noted during the course of duty.
The post holder will be required to have a valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate and be re-checked every 3 years as per Trust policy.
