This role will challenge you to take ownership of your learning and to assist in all general legal, commercial and regulatory compliance matters as well as ensuring administration and commercial accuracy of all contracts. Ideally we would love for you to have knowledge of legal documentation, if not, we can help you to reach your potential.
You will be working closely with managers from across our business, our Legal Adviser and Contract Management Specialist. It requires great organisation, a passion for the legal, procurement and/or commercial sector and ultimately, a motivated person who wants to learn and grow.
**Key responsibilities**:

- First Point of Contact: Liaise with various stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of commercial terms and support with contract negotiations through to the conclusion.
- Partner with Legal Support and Procurement for Contract Lifecycle Management and Programme Delivery.
- Hold a log of live contract discussions, proper execution and check contracts post-negotiation (including contract sign-off sheets)
- Proofread/complete commercial contracts with customers, suppliers and service providers
- Ensure that all contractual documentation is properly presented in a word format, printing, posting and filing agreed contracts
- Drafting letters and coordinating responses during negotiations with third parties
- Ensuring that all new orders are properly verified and recorded
- Facilitating the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and providing timely reminders

**Skills and experience**:

- Ideally experience as a paralegal or legal secretary or you have an understanding of these roles and have the ability to conduct independent legal research (and willingness to learn)
- Familiarity with legal documents and terminology
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanour
- Excellent communication skills. Communicating effectively with colleagues at all levels within the organisation
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients by phone and occasionally face to face
- Able to cope under pressure with the ability to prioritise key tasks.
- Able to ensure confidentiality.
- Be able to work accurately, with good attention to detail.

**Desirable experience**:

- Legal Secretary experience:

- An awareness of which terms and conditions (e.g. IPR, Liability & Termination) are standard in contracts and how they should be applied.
- Aware of legal implications of function and capable of working within legal boundaries, and of knowing when a legal boundary is being approached.
- Paralegal experience:

- The ability to use terms and conditions (e.g. IPR, Liability & Termination) to drive improved performance in contracts. Adapting terms and conditions to reflect the scale of the requirement and to encourage good performance.
- Understanding of the legal implication on the function, knowing where boundaries lie, and actively seeks advice when activities encroach on legal aspects. Will adapt work to ensure developments stay within legal framework.
- Prioritises and implements own/departmental work
