**Role profile: Programming and Engagement Coordinator**

Full time, permanent. Potential for flexible working.

**Responsible To: The Operations Manager**

**Financial responsibility**:
Responsible for delegated budgets for income and expenditure.

**Line Management**:
Responsible for line management of all volunteers involved in cultural programming at Trebah Garden.

Also recruitment and management of freelancers as needed for specific projects.

**Area of Impact**:
You will be responsible for working with the Trebah Garden team to create and deliver all aspects of cultural programming and education work in line with our charity’s purpose, vision, business plan and values.

You will use your experience to develop a programme of appropriate added value activities, trails and events that are appropriate to Trebah.

You will use your understanding of audience and community needs to build partnerships that are mutually beneficial and deliver financial and non-financial objectives.

You’ll work with volunteers, visitors and community participants (inc schools) to help connect them with Trebah and ensure their needs are met.

You will evaluate the impact of cultural programming and partnerships at Trebah and share this learning to ensure we develop appropriate future plans.

**Internal/external relationships**:
The senior management team at Trebah Garden, the wider team of staff, trustees and volunteers, members and visitors. External partner organisations, schools, community groups, education providers and fundraisers.

**What you will deliver**:
Great experiences:
Work collaboratively across Trebah Garden to enable us and any partnership organisations to deliver creative activities, commercial events and exhibitions. You will also lead the design and delivery of a programme of added value activities such as trails and tours.

Identify, understand and share information about Trebah Garden’s audiences, communities and external trends. Use this information to develop ideas for programming to help us deepen or extend engagement and grow revenue.

Coordinate educational visits to Trebah Garden, working alongside external organisations to arrange activities as required.

**Put our charitable purpose into action**:
Through all your work you will be helping Trebah achieve its charitable purpose. Specifically you will help educate and inspire people with Trebah’s stories relating to our historical associations, horticulture, arboriculture and nature conservation potential.

**Financial gain**:
Monitor and manage delegated budgets in order to balance costs while ensuring visitor needs are met.

Accurately plan costs including staffing and other resources and then evaluate to ensure future opportunities are identified and shared.

**Develop relationships**:
You will work with colleagues to identify new partnership and collaboration opportunities based on past experience, trends and your knowledge of Trebah.

**Grow our team**:
You will help to ensure that Trebah Garden is a great place to work and volunteer. You will recruit, induct, lead, develop and manage a team of enthusiastic volunteers who will support delivery of programing and engagement.

You will take ownership of volunteer management systems at Trebah and ensure that all volunteer managers within the staff team are confident and competent in using them.

Working with volunteer coordinators, provide guidance to heads of department and other members of the team in best practice on how to work with volunteers.

**Manage risk**:
You will help manage operational risk and take responsibility for ensuring that you, our team and partnership organisations are safe and compliant when delivering our programming to minimise risk to the public, staff, volunteers and contractors. You will be responsible for carrying out risk assessments for the events and programming activities you are involved in and for highlighting any concerns to the senior management team.

**Be part of the Trebah team**:

- Act as Duty Manager for Trebah Garden as part of a rota.
- Deliver in line with Trebah Garden Values.
- Anything else as reasonably requested by Trebah Garden Trust

This role will require regular weekend, bank holiday and evening working.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:
**Required**:

- Minimum 2 years experience of producing high quality creative projects or visitor programming and/or working with community or commercial partners to produce events and activities within the arts, culture, heritage, natural environment, sports or visitor attraction sector.
- Experience of referring to audience data and feedback to improve and develop an offer, connecting people with art, culture, nature, heritage and the outdoors and ensuring these assets deliver benefit to audiences.
