Marine and Specie Claims Adjuster

**The Role**
Canopius is seeking a claims professional with knowledge of handling claims in the London insurance market. The individual will proactively adjust claims from their initial notification through settlement. They will need to grow relationships throughout Canopius and collaborate with other internal capabilities especially the underwriting and actuarial teams. They will be encouraged to build strong relationships with underwriters and brokers in the line of business.
**Responsibilities will include**:
- Develop a thorough understanding of the claims within the Marine portfolio.
- Ensure that sufficient financial provisions, in accordance with the Canopius reserving philosophy, are held for all claims within the portfolio and reported appropriately.
- Proactively adjust claims within their claims authority and in accordance with the Canopius claims manual; ensuring and delivering the very highest service to all our customers by effectively driving claims through to resolution.
- Nurture and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; in particular with the underwriters and actuaries for the relevant classes of business.
- Instruct and proactively work with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to ensure the best outcomes whilst controlling costs and reducing claims leakage.
**Skills & Experience**
- Some knowledge of handling claims in the Marine classes in the London market (or equivalent setting)
- Some claims technical expertise to include policy coverage and liability assessment, claims negotiation skills and claims strategy
- Ability to prioritise and proactively meet deadlines
- Ability to manage complex issues and problems, and escalate appropriately
