Senior Software Engineer

Permanent (full time)

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)

My client is a young but fast growing Broadband Provider who have recently raised and committed major investment to their infrastructure, service and people, as they push towards their next substantial milestone in their journey.

They require a proactive, hands-on Senior Software Engineer who's experienced working within rapidly growing or fast-paced environments with relevant skills and experience:

- 5+ years of proven, professional experience of Python development
- Hands on knowledge of PostgreSQL or other SQL databases
- Writing testable, scalable and efficient code and leading code reviews
- Mentoring junior team members and ensuring they adhere to software quality standards
- Experience with Git, and/or GitLab
- Experience with Dask would be nice to have
- Other distributed computer systems like Dask, eg Spark
- The ability to build and interact with Restful APIs
- Working knowledge of public cloud services
- Working knowledge of Agile tooling, like JIRA and Confluence, would be advantageous
- Experience of GIS would be a bonus
- A strong desire to maintain a reliable IT infrastructure using documentation, careful planning and automation
- Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels of the business
- Attention to detail and accuracy along with a positive and problem solving attitude
- Encourage and promote a collaborative work environment across the wider Technology team

**What will you be working on?**
- Building their innovative in-house fibre planning & reporting tool used by their fibre planners and engineers to design and deliver their network
- Integration & automation of their internal systems
- Overhaul & redesign of their existing database
- Turning their website into a full eCommerce journey
- Creation of One-touch switching for their customers
- Regularly update senior leadership on projects, owning and escalating issues which arise through to resolution
- Creation of efficient and accurate detailed technical documentation
